TOPIC:
Join us for an exploration of Weaver Writing, a distinctive pointed pen script developed by the late Gwen Weaver (1950-2013).
This whimsical yet elegant style features just 26 letters—no capitals required—making it an ideal introduction to oblique pen holders for beginners and an enjoyable challenge for experienced calligraphers. Known for its graceful 45-degree angled ovals, playful long descenders, and unusual swoops, Weaver Writing embodies what one calligrapher described as moving "in an elegant, lithe way."
We'll cover the unique characteristics that make this script special while practicing the pressure/release technique that creates its signature "bone-shaped" strokes. All levels welcome. Come discover the joy of this contemporary classic!
*This class will be available via Zoom, starting at 7pm. Please register if you plan on attending remotely, and we will provide instructions for the zoom link*

Oblique pen holder (If you prefer a straight holder then bring that.)
Pointed nib (Look for hairline capabilities. Consider bringing multiple nibs to experiment with.)
Ink of your choice (walnut, sumi, gouache, etc.)

Heather will provide a set of guidelines, but consider bringing additional straight guidelines of assorted sizes for experimenting.
