Crown Book Folding for Calligraphers
With Mollie Hunt
After learning about the Crown Book format from a class available through the Center for Book Arts in New York, I wanted to share this unique book format in our group as I think it has unique calligraphy appeal. The ability to display “double pages” and swap these pages in and out after constructing the book itself lends itself well to calligraphy works and inspires at least me to create an evolving collection that can be displayed in this way.
Supplies needed:
(2 pieces) Special papers for covers if desired, cardstock provided, 8 ½ x 11 for this project
(6-8 pieces) Internal pages if desired, 8 ½ x 11 for this project
(1 piece) Spine Paper approximately 11x 17 heavier weight but still able to fold
Adhesive to affix cover, pva to be provided
Bone folder or similar to help with paper folding
Optional:
Remaining meeting time will be used to create more books or bring your writing and layout
supplies to play with the layouts that you would want to put inside the book
*ZOOM Link will be located in the Members Only Area, under the Virtual Meetings Tab

Instructions for Zoom
ITALIC is a most valuable script to any lettering artist because of its beauty and versatility. Italic can be written very simply or elaborately with flourishes. If it has been a while since you’ve studied Italic, you can bring your Italic letters in for a tune-up. If you are new to Italic, this is a great opportunity to learn this elegant script.
Student Supply List:
