In Alcuin’s Footsteps…The Carolingian Script

A Beginning Class 

taught by Dave Kuwahara

         This class will introduce students to the Carolingian Script, which developed around the 8^th century, taking its name from the Emperor Charlemagne. This class is intended for beginning calligraphers, and the goal of the class will be for students to complete a calligraphic piece in this script. Left handed students are especially welcome.

Classes will be held from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday evenings in the Youth Room, on the second floor of the Wright Congregational UCC Church at 4821 Franklin Rd in Boise.

Dates for the class are:

Feb 12, 26;

Mar 5, 12, 26;

Apr 2, 9

Students are welcome to bring snacks or dinner to the class.

For those of you with the Inkspots, there won't be a conflict for meetings

The class fee is $70.00 for members of the Idaho Inkspots, $90.00 for non-members. Register through the link below, all supplies and handouts are included in the registration fee.

I'd especially love some help with this year's birthday cards. There are multiple pieces of lettering on each, envelopes need to be addressed, or there is cutting, gluing, and assembly if that is your speed, so don't think you won't be able to make a difference!

If you can't make it, no sweat we'll be doing more pen meets/club workshop times in the future.

All the raw materials will be provided.

Bring your style B-2 speedball nib if you want to try the art deco lettering, I will have one to borrow if that is not currently in your collection.

All other projects welcome.
