TOPIC: White space and layout

Creating proper letter forms is just part of good calligraphic work. Dave Kuwahara will provide ideas on proper spacing between letters, words, lines, and paragraphs to guide your development of balanced lettering projects.

SUPPLY LIST:

Bring the tools you already enjoy working with—nothing fancy required. A basic kit is perfect, and sharing is always welcome.

We'll be using:

  • Ruler
  • Pencil and Eraser
  • A pencil and eraser
  • 4-5 sheets of paper with a grid or with guidelines (4-5 nib widths of your writing tool)
  • Edged pen or markers 2 -2.5 m (Elegant Writers are readily available - you can try that Quality Art discount card out)
  • Oblique pen holder and pointed nib (optional)
